Regards, Linda Please, don’t forget to view my other items Up for sale is this STUNNING Antique Odhani Bishnoi Marriage Wedding Shawl From Shekhawati District of Rajasthan, India. This comes from my personal collection, but needs to go to new home where it can be displayed and enjoyed, as I no longer have room to show this off. This is actually a piece from a family member who did a lot of travelling during the 1910s, and had a fabulous collection of beautiful things she collected along the way. I was lucky to inherit this and several other items. This is a GENUINE Antique – Artisan piece, a true piece of cultural Art ! I was told this was given to my great aunt in the early 1910s whilst travelling throughout Asia – India. It’s all handmade, all hand woven and intricately embroidered all over from hand dyed wool yarn and has a deep red background, but my camera has diluted the the rich red background, so I’ve added a photo to show the nearest to the true red colour, it’s much deeper than in the main photos. It’s a great size and is an amazing and timeless decor piece. It’s in excellent antique condition given its age, but I’d not perfect and nor should it be, anything antique should have signs of age. It has a couple of repairs to the centre seam and some very tiny, very unnoticeable pin holes. It’s such a beautiful piece, because it’s completely handmade, from the wool yarn, weaving and embroidery. This is a marriage – wedding shawl, and another family member who’s from southern India gave me some information about these types of shawls. The embroidery is often added to over time and generations, usually telling a story about the village and family it pertains to and they are very much a treasured family item. Which is also most likely why this one has very old and original repairs to the centre seam. This is also a great large size piece, which is perfect for displaying on a large wall. I used to hang this above my sofa and it always looked amazing and got visitors attention. I’m parting with this one at a very good price, as these usually sell for well over $1000 +. So this is a very good opportunity for the buyer to own a piece that’s not only gorgeous and very tactile, but will only increase in value over time.
