For sale is a vintage Omega De Ville from 1979, reference 111.0157. The gold plated case is a square 30mm that wears larger than it sounds, due to it’s small bezel and relatively large lug to lug. It’s a pure dress watch with a gold colored dial, applied Roman numerals, and silver baton hands for contrast. Powered by the cal. 625 manual wind movement, a shrank down variant of the legendary 600-series. Reference: 111.0157Movement: Cal. 625, 17 Jewels, Manual wind, 42h reserve, 21600 bphYear of production: 1979Width: 30mm (without crown), 32mm (with crown)Lug to lug: 36mmThickness: 5.5mmLug width: 18mmCrown: Omega signedCrystal: SapphireBox/Papers: No ConditionThe dial has some flaking on the bottom-left side, most probably from humidity. When removed from the case, it also shows corrosion on the outer border on that same section. Printing is sharp and intact. Applied numerals are clean, with only light discoloration. Hands are very clean. The crystal, which I believe to be sapphire, is scratched up. They’re light scratches however and a jeweler or a watchmaker would most probably be able to take care of them. These square crystals are a pain to source, so polishing is the much better alternative here than replacing. The case is in pretty good shape, with only light marks from use. Gold plating is intact all around. The case back has light marks and scratches, but the original brushed finish is still visible. Crown is in good shape and I imagine original to the watch. The movement looks fairly clean. There’s some corrosion marks on the winding wheels and light discoloration on the bridges. Winding is smooth and so is time setting. Timegrapher results show that it’s keeping great time, losing 1 to 9 seconds per day depending on position, with a decently strong amplitude. The beat error is high though, so it could definitely use a service. Additionally, please check the photos carefully and don’t hesitate to contact me if you have questions. Although it runs well, keep in mind you’re buying a vintage watch. If you care for it to function properly in the future, a service will be needed. Waterproof The watch is not waterproof. You should wear it with care and prevent exposure in very humid environments. Washing your hands while wearing the watch or exposure to light rain are fine as long as you’re careful and aware that it’s a vintage watch.
