This is a new intergenus cross of a Manfreda and an Agave. They are now calling these “Mangaves”. This hybrid is called “Kaleidoscope” and is a beautiful variegated plant. The leaves are fairly soft, and don’t have the punishing terminal spines that agaves have, so they are safer for kids and pets. This a gorgeous plant with bright greens, bright yellow variegation, and red spots! These are great plants for pots, and are frost hardy down to about 30F, below that, and leaf tip damaged occurs. These plants will get about 18″ to 24″ across, if you put them in the ground. If you put them in pots, they will not get quite as large, if you use a smaller pot. The first three pictures show a mature plant, and the coloring it has! You receive a nice large plant, about 12″ to 18″ wide. These more mature plants generally have SOME spotting and bright red coloring that the mature plants do. They will develop the colors and spots as they grow. NOTE: We are now out of the #1 grade plants, and what we have left are #2 grade plants. What this means is these plants have some leaf damage, and tip truncation. This is NOT a huge issue, as these plants grow fast, and these leaves will be replaced this season with new growth! These will come to you bare root, no pot or soil. The plant you will receive looks similar to the plants in the pictures. (Please read the above about the #2 grade plants!) I also have other varieties of Mangaves up for sale. Check my listings. Please note: The leaves on these plants are delicate. I’ll pack these very well, but you still may end up with a broken leaf tip or two. The good news is that these plants grow VERY fast, and will grow out of any damage in a few months! This is not common, but I want buyers to be aware it could happen. These plants are in 6″/gallon pots at this time. They could be put into 8″ or 10″ pots upon arrival. If you need heat packs, we have them in our store, just add them to your order.
