The camera is designed for medium format film photography and has a rangefinder focus type. The beige and silver color scheme gives it a sleek and modern look. This camera is perfect for photography enthusiasts who want to explore the world of film photography. Its 6×9 (2 1/4 x 3 1/4) format produces stunningly detailed images. The Linhof Super Technika IV 6X9 model is a must-have for anyone who wants to take their photography skills to the next level. The Super Technika IV is a newer and less common version of the model. Manufactured in Germany in the 1960s, this is Linhof’s Super Technika 23 medium format camera. The die-cast aluminum body makes the Technikas extremely rugged and because everything folds up into itself (making it very compact), the lens and bellows are protected from dust and damage. The camera has a parallax-correcting multifocus optical rangefinder. A 105mm mask at the front of the viewfinder is included. The rangefinder focusing cam (interchangeable/removable) is for focal lengths of 65mm, 105mm and 180mm. There is also a distance scale next to the eyepiece which tells you the distance the camera is focused at. The 6cm x 9cm (2¼” x 3¼”) format camera has a revolving back making it easy to switch from horizontals to verticals and the double extension bed allows for a long bellows to be used for macrophotography or for focusing telephoto lenses. The front standard can also be tilted backwards (see photos). The front standard can also be dropped to provide optical corrections and the rear standard can be moved independently to provide for more corrections. The camera is in beautiful condition with all leather inserts intact and almost no scuffing of polished metal elements. The 120 roll-film back is in excellent shape as well. The camera comes equipped with a 105mm f/5.6 Schneider Symmar normal lens which was manufactured by Schneider-Kreuznach in Germany. It is bright and clear and in great condition with no scratches fungus or cleaning marks. This is a Schneider convertible lens which has two focal lengths combined into one lens. If you remove the rear elements, the 105mm lens turns into a 185mm lens. The shutter speeds (1-1/500th + B) all sound strong and accurate but I can’t guarantee their speeds since it was not tested but the many images I have made suggest that they are pretty accurate. The camera also comes with the super-confortable Linhof anatomical grip which make holding the camera in one hand quite easy. Included are cable release as well. Schneider 105/185 f5.6/12 is in a Linhof Shutter with speeds up to 1/500th and seems quite accurate – I have taken many B&W photos with this lens and it has been excellent. Focusing cam is the Linhof standard 65/105/180 and the 105 mask is mounted on the viewfinder. Also part of the system is the 65mm Schneider Angulon f/6.8 with a nifty add-on for the shutter release that enable Time setting for the shutter speed as well as a wide angle hood with filter. To make this a complete camera setup I am including a vintage push-on orange filter for B&W film, black focusing cloth, film, lens cloth, an old Linhof strap that can be used for a template, some vintage lens tissue from the fabled Jack’s Camera Shop in Rapid City, SD, and a useful camera bag that holds the outfit. Fun to reconnect with real creative film photography with a complete setup. Useful for this alone but the quality and excellent condition of the camera itself make it imminently collectible as well. I am selling due to vision deterioration (AMD) and will miss this beautiful “Rolls Royce of film cameras”.
