Our antenna consistently outperforms OEM and other aftermarket mass produced portable antennas. Each and every one of our antennas is fine-tuned by hand to deliver absolute maximum communications performance with real certified results over a specific and guaranteed frequency range. This antenna is made to properly fit and work with the following Kenwood portable radio models that operate in the 900 MHz frequency range; NX-411, NX-3400, NX-3420, TK-481 Our K900 antenna is a great replacement for the Kenwood antenna models; KRA-38, and KRA-39 Note: a BIGGER antenna is usually NOT any better, JUST REALLY BIG! The 900 MHz radio band is an alternate frequency range used for Police, Fire, Rescue,Public Safety, Industrial, and Critical Utilities Trunked/Conventional radio systems where the 700 and 800 MHz bands are congested. Our antenna will cover all of the 896-941 MHz trunked radio frequencies usen in this band with a balanced transmit and receive performance. All standard OEM and aftermarket antennas are mass produced with non-certified “GE” (good enough) or “So-So” performance somewhere in the 600 to 900 MHz frequency ranges. Many users have replaced their standard 7 to 9 inch long whip antennas that poke them in their side or get caught on the vehicle seat belt with our tuned stubby antennas with long term outstanding results. Our K900 antenna will have an excellent VSWR match across the 896-941 MHz frequency range for true high performance and communications range. This antenna is tuned to only operate on the specific tuned frequency range listed and will not operate at all in the Vhf, UHF, GPS, or 700 MHz radio bands. Known-brand portable radios are not cheap and you should not limit their performance with; Poor quality, Unknown reliability, or Untuned mass produced antennas. Our antennas actually outperform the mass produced 7-9 inch long whip antennas since each are custom retuned by hand for optimum performance over a very specific frequency range with greater precision and accuracy. VSWR is a ratio of transmit output power and any power reflected back into the transmitter due to poor antenna resonance. Lower antenna VSWR values allow maximum transmitter signal output and better received signals. We achieve a minimum gain of up to +3dB as compared to a stock untuned antenna since our antenna has a much lower VSWR value and more useable power output. A +3dB gain can effectively double your transmit and receive power. The length of our custom fine-tuned stubby K900 antenna will be approximately 2.0 inches long with a physical length tolerance of plus or minus 0.25 inches depending upon the final VSWR tuning. All internal connections are silver soldered for best RF conductivity. The outer antenna covering is made of black flexible PVC and the antenna has a bottom weather skirt to protect the SMA male RF connection on a Kenwood 900 MHz portable radio. Our custom tuned antennas have greatly improved communications for all business, utility, consumer, commercial, fire, government, industrial, public safety, police, amateur radio, and rescue radio users who operate within the shared 896 to 941 MHz radio band. It is a fact that the most important part of any two way radio communications is the antenna system. The antenna is the device on a radio that converts RF power into radio waves during transmit and radio waves back into RF signal power on receive. All transmitted and received signals must pass through the antenna system for any radio to work. One half of the portable radio antenna system is the external antenna that you attach to the portable radio antenna connector and the other half is the actual portable radio chassis itself. A respected radio engineer once said, “If you had 100 dollars, invest 99 dollars in the antenna system and 1 dollar in the radio and you will always have great communications”. After many years of our own experience we have found that this statement to be true especially for today’s FM narrowband, trunked, and digital radio communications. Of course it would be best to have your portable radio properly recalibrated, realigned, and tested at least once every 2 years for maximum radio reliability and performance. We have witnessed portable radios worth thousands of dollars using cheap unknown inferior quality OEM antennas get beat out by users with portable radios one forth the cost using our high performance fine-tuned antennas. Just imagine how an expensive portable radio will work with our high performance antenna. VSWR is the efficiency measurement ratio of RF power that is being converted into radio waves by the antenna system as compared to the RF power that is not converted and reflected back into the radio as wasted energy. A VSWR of 1.5:1 has been and still is the customary maximum upper limit used in professional land mobile radio communications to determine a good transfer of RF power. Any VSWR above 1.6:1 is poor and any VSWR above 2:1 is definitely bad for performance and the health of the radio RF power output amplifier. Sadly many companies that manufacture products in China now use a VSWR of 2:1 as their good reference point to market their poor quality products and make them appear to be way better than what they actually are.
