You push the button on the front to pull the pony tail out and turn the knob in the back to pull the pony tail back in the head to shorten the pony tail. It works on this doll. She is a nice doll with the exception of the hair. I do not know why the hair is short and fuzzy around the head. The hair in front top and the pony tail are nice. I washed and combed the hair. Vinyl head and arms and hard plastic body and legs. The head and arms are a little different color than the body and legs. Caused by age and the different materials. She is vintage and does have some small scratches from years of use. She has a little indentation on the left leg above the knee. Sold as is in used condition. Please ask any questions before purchase so you are happy with your purchase. The outfit is from a porcelain doll I had, it has not been played with. The cute dress, belt and hat look darling on her. The dress is a little big but looks very cute on her. No shoes. She looks very sweet and you cannot see the hair problem she has. I just did not want to throw her away without trying to save her.
