Multi-Color Lithograph Each color requires a separate stone or state of a stone, and the number of stones and/or states determines the number of colors in the finished lithograph. Each stone must “register” perfectly for creating the clear impressions. Limited Edition: I 25/30 (Number issued title-edition 305) Image Size approx. 35″ x 24″ Rives Paper Size approx. 40″ height x 30″ width Condition: Vintage aged art. View and Zoom all pics. Recently removed from frame. In white border area, discoloration marks from previous mat. Back blemish where pic was originally taped to mat. Shipped rolled. _____ About the Artist: Edna Hibel (Edna Hibel Plotkin) 1917-2014 Hibel’s talent was first developed under the direction of noted portraitist Gregory Michaels. Edna then studied with the renowned Russian and German masters, Alexandr Yakovlev and Karl Zerbe, at the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts. Completing her training at the Museum School in 1939, Hibel was awarded the Ruth B. Sturtevant Traveling Fellowship for study and painting in Mexico. In 1940, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts purchased one of her paintings for its permanent collection, making Edna the youngest artist at the time so honored by a major American museum. Hibel later returned to the Boston Museum School for graduate study in the art and techniques of the Renaissance, and to absorb the discipline of the masters. She attracted an international following for her oil paintings, frescoes, watercolors, stone lithographs, and work in porcelain often working with gold leaf. Her exhibitions, spanning four continents,have been displayed in prominent museums, galleries, palaces, and universities in more than 20 countries, including ground-breaking exhibitions in the U.S.,England, Sweden, the former Soviet Union, Japan, Germany, Israel, Costa Rica,and Brazil. In 1986, Edna’s exhibition in the National Gallery in Beijing was the first by an American woman in The People’s Republic of China; and in 1988, more than 3,000 people attended her opening in the Dubrovnik Museum in the former Yugoslavia. She also is remembered for her humanitarian efforts in supporting educational, health, and children’s charities.
