N5383A is so obsolete that Agilent discontinued it long ago. This is a FULL SERVICE (parts+labor) to upgrade/modernize nearly ANY* Agilent 54830 series Infiniium Oscilloscope from Windows 98 to Windows XP, which is the functional equivalent of N5383A Infiniium Performance Upgrade Kit. Actually this is slightly better. If your unit has an old acq board that ONLY runs Windows 98, Agilent will get you the new acq board (impossible by now) just to run XP (which was a total waste). You get to keep your old rev acq board with this solution. Windows XP is also required to run the newer firmware that has newer features like external probe scaling an offset. Even the latest firmware that can be installed on Windows 98 cannot handle it. The upgrade process full of thorny configuration details; tiny missteps can drain hours and hours to troubleshoot. If you insist doing it on your end (if international shipping costs you more than $1k, or confidentiality concerns), I can send you the required pieces and guide you over phone/email, and there is an additional $500 surcharge for the extra support hassle. NOTE: You should get a legitimate Windows XP Pro license on your own and assign the license to the unit for compliance purpose. NOTE: The calibration factors in Windows 98 format are not compatible with Windows XP’s firmware. I’ll run a self-calibration for you, which means your calibration sticker is no longer valid.The motherboards in 54830 series are likely to have their IDE controllers fail at this age. If you have BSOD or weird behavior after the upgrade, consult me for replacement motherboards (with preventative service done). The old Windows 98 might work intermittently just because it has less disk access to trigger the data corruption. If your oscilloscope boots intermittently, it’s the sign.
