Glidecam Smooth Shooter Arm The Smooth Shooter’s Dyna-Elastic Support Arm incorporates more than 20 precision radial bearings within its machined T6 aluminum structure. The placement and implementation of these double-shielded bearings produce minimal friction and allow the arm to pivot and boom very smoothly and with virtually no noise. Two high-carbon alloy extension springs are employed within the arm’s hard coat anodized exoskeletal shell. Utilizing class three levers, the energy of the extension springs acts upon internal fulcrum points and provides the arm with its lifting power. The spring tension is field adjustable and allows for varying camera weights. The Glidecam proprietary spring Inter-X-Change system makes installation and removal of the springs quick and easy. The support arm can be set up and used in either single-spring mode or dual-spring mode. In single-spring mode, the arm can hold a total combined camera and handheld stabilizer weight of 9 lb. In the dual-spring mode, the support arm can hold a total combined camera and stabilizer weight of 18 lb. A key design feature of the support arm is that it incorporates Light-Force technology. This means that only a “light” force or effort is required by the operator to hold the arm at any given position or to boom it up or down. It is this Light-Force feature that provides the operator with the optimum amount of camera buoyancy or float. High endurance, dual-density, EVA foam padding and integral T6 aluminum alloy materials create a vest that can hold and evenly distribute the weight of the system across the operator’s shoulders, back, and hips. It’s also made with 1000 Denier Cordura fabric and seven-panel seat belt strapping. A unique and proprietary, precision, three-axis Gimbal incorporates several adjustable, axis convergence controls. This allows all three axes to intersect for proper operational alignment. A camera-mounting platform with a quick-release, no-tools, drop-on camera plate allows you to quickly attach or remove your camera. Ergonomic, control knobs allow quick, precise adjustment of the top stage’s back and forth, and side-to-side movement. These controls allow you to adjust the camera’s horizontal balance.
