Estate Find… These wonderful photo slides came out of a mid century Detroit estate and they were taken by a husband & wife team. He was a professional photographer; you can see his big box camera with him in the shots that his wife took. In fact, there are a few of him with a camera around his neck! Although he was the professional, I find myself gravatating to the ones that she took of him and the sites. She had a great eye, as well! This lot’s highlights include: A summer road trip in the mid 1950s out west! All of the slides in this lot have the older and desirable RED BORDER Frames. Included in this lot are photos of The Grand Canyon, the Painted Desert, a few slides of the photographer and his NASH Rambler out front of cottages/vacation homes that he and his wife stayed at. A really cool mix! The slides are in good condition. I have removed any slides that are blurry, etc… The slides have been marked with the sites on them (where taken/ details about the slide) in ink and some have decals featuring the photographers name and address. Most slides are undated. The album that they came in said OUT WEST MID 1950s. Slides of this era often do have a scent of age to them. I have aired the slides out and also I have stored them with baking soda as suggested on multiple archival photo websites since acquiring them. I know from past personal experience, some are sensitive to the smell, some cannot smell a thing while others find old “smells” delightful! If you are sensitive to vintage ephemera smells, this may not be the lot for you. The slides did not come from the estate in their original Kodak boxes but rather in a three dimensional album so they will be shipped carefully loose but bound and wrapped together in archival paper for safety. Have no worries, we pack with care. I just wanted to point out that these slides do not include the small boxes from the original processor. I do have multiple lots up now from this family and the series of Summer Vacations’s that they took over the years during the 50s and 60s. Take a look.
