This listing is for three (3) Rose of Sharon plants that range in size between 5 and 8 inches in height. The plants you will receive will be between these ranges of size as there will be slight differences from the photos in the listing as no two plants are the same. They will be guaranteed vibrant and healthy and ready for transplanting. We do not ship with the pot as the pot allows for too much soil moisture evaporation. It will be securely adhered to the package wall for the safest shipping method possible. PLEASE BE ADVISED: From October to March, we ship these plants in their dormant state. This means they will have no leaves. The stem will be strewn with buds for this coming spring’s growth. If you live in a southern state, these will push new growth upon planting them as dormancy is dependent on hours of daylight and temperature. We are located in New York State and temperatures can differ drastically around the country. Please contact us with any questions on dormancy. It is now widely cultivated as a popular ornamental. General Description: A multi-stemmed flowering perennial adorned with trumpeting white flowers with glowing red centers. A must-have for summer gardens. Hardiness Zone: 5 to 8 Maintenance: Low Mature Height: 8 to 12 feet Mature Width: 6 to 10 feet Plant Details: Growth Habit: Erect, vase-shaped, multi-stemmed, spreading habit with upright branches. Moderate to rapid growth. Leaf Structure: Appear late in the season (May), coarsely toothed with 3 distinct lobes, green to yellowish green that are alternate and broadly ovate and palmately veined, about 3? long. They have no real fall color. Stem Structure: Thin and grey ? lenticeled with raised leaf scars and small buds, doesn?t branch much unless pruned. Bark Structure: Grey brown ? somewhat rough looking Soil Preference: Sand, clay, loam, chalk, likes an alkaline to neutral pH range (5.5-7) Watering Preference: Medium Sunlight Preference: Full Sun to Part Shade ? Flowers best in full sun. Bloom Time: June to October Bloom Color: White to pink with a red center ? 5 to 6 inches in diameter, individual flowers only last for about a day. Flowers on new growth. Winterization Methods: Lay a thick layer of mulch around the base of the shrub. Protect from extreme wind. Any heavy pruning should be done in late winter ? February to March. Pruning back to 2 to 3 buds may produce larger blooms. Fun Fact: Was introduced and grown in European gardens as early as the 16th century, by the 17th century they knew it was hardy, and by the 18th century it was widely common in European gardens and the North American colonies. General Notes: National flower of South Korea. Leaves were brewed into an herbal tea and its flowers eaten. Highly tolerant of air pollution, heat, humidity, poor soil, and drought.
