Vintage 12” animal hide, fur, skin, rawhide, over wood tribal ethnographic folk art tapered hand drum. Possibly of African origin. Beautifully stitched animal hide drum, fully covered with tan fur, possibly gazelle or cow. Hide is quite tight and has a nice tone. Can be played on both sides. Unmarked, unsigned, no labels or tags. Uncertain of exact age, provenance, artisan. In Excellent vintage condition with light general signs of age and wear, a little loss of fur where it would rest on a surface. Measures approximately 12 inches tall, 8.25 inches in diameter at one end, and 5 inches in diameter at the other end. Weighs approximately 2 lbs. Will weigh between 3 and 4 lbs packaged.
